The german Heavy
Metal Band „The Mist“was founded in the end of the
year 2002 by Richard Pöschel (g) and Nico Langen (dr). The
vacancies were closed by Andreas Schneider (b) and Marc Wolf (g,v). In
the same year the first 5-Track Demo was recorded and first festivals
were played. After a few months of existing they appeared on the MOA
Sampler (Mosel Open Air) and until today this path is walked. Recently
they have been announced to the band of the month and their songs are
played in more than 70 radio stations all over the world.
First changes were made in 2005, because Andreas Schneider had to leave the band for a job-related reason. The gap was closed by Danny Reeves on the bass guitar. 2006 the band decided to change the position on the microphon and Oliver Baumann took over the job. Although he had to leave the band healthwise again in the end of 2006 and Holger Noll (former Circle of Tyrants) became the successor in 2007.
Background:
The bands name has been choosen from a philosophical view. The furture and direct present are hidden in the mist of unknown. You can`t definetly say what is coming next and what reaction you will receive on your actual acting. Also is everything what we don`t know or cannot explain in a kind of mist.
Style:
Concerning the music, the goal was adapted to play metal which cannot be catched in a specific style. So the songs are various and different to each other. The result is a interest mixture of metal music. The lyrics are about actual events and experiences of the band, so every theme has it`s deeper Background so you have to think about it first to see the meaning of it.

„The Mist“ stammen aus der ältesten Stadt Deutschlands und sind seit Anfang 2002 aktiv. Als Vorgeschmack auf das 2005 erscheinende „Lyrics from the grave“-Album gibt es mit „Cemetery Gates“ einen 19minütigen Vorgeschmack mit drei eingängigen Stücken. The Mist gehören zu jenen Bands, denen man das Potential sofort anhört. Entscheidend für eine Band in diesem frühen Entwicklungsstadium ist in erster Linie, dass das Songwriting passt. Trotz offensichtlicher Schwächen bei Gesang und dem Gefühl für die richtige Songlänge überzeugen die vier jungen Trierer mit ihren Ideen und der offensichtlichen Spielfreude. Im Prinzip sind das genau die Grundlagen, die eine Band braucht, um ihren Weg weiter zu gehen. Wem melodischer Metal mit variablem Tempo, knackigen Melodien und heavy Riffs zusagt, kann sich den Namen The Mist ruhig merken.
Zum Abschluss noch eine Anmerkung an die Band: Ein lieblos gebrannter Rohling ohne Cover, dafür mit Handbeschriftung ist nicht unbedingt eine gute Visitenkarte, um ein Label, Promoagenturen etc. zu finden.
